It hasn't been that long since I posted the Intro to OSMF tutorial, but OSMF has marched on at some pace since then. I've now altered the code example. how do you think this ?

I think you misspelled your title ;)

Can you compare the OSMF to Flowplayer? It seems like Flowplayer's documentation is *way, way, way* better for getting started and that it has more features. However, OSMF's code seems more regular and polished. Both feel very "Java-esque", although I must admit that I don't usually code in ActionScript.

Thanks :)

Hi Lisa, YouTube support using their own player and there is a hack to extract the FLV URL and then you can use OSMF to play that FLV URL on any player using server side script. The way I would probably approach it is create a plugin to extract the URL for OSMF and a server side script and than use OVP to play the FLV. Hope that helped, good luck :)

While I am sure OSMF can do well with small content media companies, I find it hard to believe that large media content companies will join before flash player 10 penetration is about 96% - 98%. The reason OSMF compile for FP10 is that OVP uses some of the new features in FP10 to do dynamic switching etc, it can be modified so OVP doesn't uses the FP10 capabilities and will position the framework better.

Thanks for the detailed explanation with good code examples. One of the more interesting projects by Adobe at the moment. Looking at the market share Flash has for web based video, it absolutely makes sense to try to combine content and content delivery. The critical thing will be to get the content owners on-board.
